It's 'The Night of Two Chucks' at Hayko's this month! First off, longtime Roomful of Sky stalwart and lifelong poet Chuck Heery performs his first ever full solo set-- come and witness the culminating moment of the birthing period of this great new talent. Then, we have the return of Chuck Dorman to the Hayko's stage. Chuck played a rapturously well-received rootsy set with his supergroup Cadillac Dorman last October, now he's back, fronting a revolving door ensemble of close friends and musical associates for his own long-overdue headlining set. Don't miss this historic night!

This month features perennial Roomful of Sky favorite Jessica Lee returning to once again blow the roof off of Hayko's with her powerful vocals and commanding presence. In addition, a big welcome to new friend Daniel Goodman who's taking some time off from his international solo blues/folk tour to share some of his roots-flavored songwriting with us in our intimate setting. We're kicking off the new year with new friend Matt Kanelos in a rare solo set, as well as longtime friend, Noe Venable. Both Matt and Noe are extremely accomplished musicians-- Matt's been featured recently on NPR and Noe has toured across the country with such big names as Ani DiFranco, Dar Williams and They Might Be Giants.

Matt and Noe each have albums out and are taking time from their busy schedule to serve up this special intimate night for the Roomful of Sky community... Don't miss it!

We've known Noe for years, and have been entranced by her wonderful voice, songwriting, perspective, unique-ness, her albums, and her commitment to grass-roots creativity and the Do-It-Yourself ethic, etc. She's been a true inspiration to us at Roomful of Sky and we were so excited to have her as part of our 'Save Hayko's' concert last month.

Do yourself a favor and check out Noe's full set at the Rockwood on the 27th. Noe will be accompanied by Greta Gertler on keys and vocals and Yair Evnine on cello and vocals, and will be continuing to develop arrangements for her new record.

community founder Phil Robinson is proud to announce the name Roomful of Sky Records and to officially launch the scene into live event promotion!

And what better way to kicks things off than with the debut of two bands that have come up through our community--

Phil himself debuts his new 13-piece band, The Bliss Jockeys and unleashes a can of polyphonic joy. And, from the ashes of Mother May I comes Justin and Hector's new rock project: Rain Of The Rock. Each band will turn in a 30-minute set.

This is the start of something big. Say you were there when...!

 
Come celebrate the release of Dave Sasscer's new album, Quiet Mind!

Dave will be turning in a full set with his band, The Mojo Conga Jam. Regular members of the "MCJ" include David Patterson on guitar (Shaun Mullins, Indigo Girls), David Gomez on percussion (Hiram Bullock, Omar Hakim), and various other luminaries of the NYC music scene. Dave incorporates numerous styles into his writing, including reggae, rock and salsa, and the end results are playful, soulful, down-right rockin' and always evocative tunes that the NYC crowd has begun to call "rhythmic rock"

The CD will be available for purchase at the show!
