I see an amazing future for this community and the idea that I see myself being a part of the history is so joyous. It is like a one stop shop. Your spiritual, musical, social, cooperative, supportive, fun and I predict sky will be a financial success too. It is the natural formula for success. Gee I feel like I know all of you! As I am looking to step out of the studio and for the first time ever experience sharing my new music, singing and .. perform songs myself, this sounds as good as it gets, and that is amazing.

Steve Fitzsimmons - May 11, 2010, 12:27 pm
Hi: This is how it happened. I went to bed and imagined clouds drifting by, noting how vivid it was and how that never happened before. Nice, but I couldn't sleep.

So I got up and checked my email, only to find an (increasingly rare) newsletter form the Joseph Campbell Foundation about the lecture series. I clicked through and almost fell off my chair when I saw your logo.

I'm not at all familiar with your work but I will bookmark and return. I like what I see so far. I'm sure it sounds like BS, especially because I am a songwriter, but that's exactly how it happened. Thought you would enjoy the tale. Cheers!

Dear Phil, thank you and the others for having the Cultural circle. On my first visit I felt that i was looking for while for a groop like this one.

Melissa Goldstein - January 16, 2010, 12:44 pm
Culture Circle last night exceeded my expectations.

Everyone was warm, friendly, intelligent and extremely welcoming. The environment; Haykos was so cozy that it felt like being in someones living room. People were incredibly talented and it was so much fun seeing a variety of talents represented, in comparison to going to a show where it's all of one thing.

Phil, the organizer was the perfect host who made everyone feel welcome and that their contribution was appreciated. All in all it was just a lovely evening. Really glad I went.

Bob Wagner - January 15, 2010, 1:16 am
Thanks.

I look forward to the releases.

Campbell helped me through a spiritual struggle years ago and I continue to turn back to him when I get too single-pointed.

Thanks for providing these, they can be life changing.

Bob

The Cafe Wha? show was a cornucopia of musical goodness!

I had never heard Bobby Kane's music before and have to say was very impressed. As always, loved Jessica's stage presence and her new songs (at least new to me) rocked!

Jason brought a nice breather to the hard rockin' with his singer/songwriter style. Am I the only one who thinks he sounds like Billy Joel? Maybe it was the Coronas?

David Greene, NYC Live Music Meetup - September 19, 2009, 6:32 pm
Great label showcase at Fontana's!

The brilliant Phil Robinson produced an amazing evening with three fantastic bands. I am always in awe of the genius and virtuosity of Rich Casella, guitar wizard and songwriter extraordinaire. Tonight was his best performance ever -- putting me in even further awe of him and his extraordinary band! It was also wonderful to be introduced to the excellent, excellent music of Dave Sasscer and Jessica Lee and their fantastic bands.

The entire evening was incredibly fun, as any evening produced by the legendary Phil Robinson is bound to be. Phil is also an incredibly nice guy, and his golden way with people shines through in everything he does.

It was a magical night co-featuring for Roomful of Sky's July 2009 Intimate Nights of Music Series. As with my first feature with Roomful of Sky at Baggot Inn two years ago, the act of intensely focusing on preparations for the performance was a catalyst for incredible investigation, invention and creativity for me. The questions and challenges I had from the first feature set me on a journey of gigging and experiments which resulted in ambitious leaps and growth.

I'm so grateful to Roomful of Sky, Hayko's and the MeetUp groups that make
these events possible.

Malcolm Smith - July 23, 2009, 5:00 pm
would love to consider this label for an original musical soundtrack recording.

Emerald Nash-Hall - May 29, 2009, 11:25 am
I am so happy that I found the NY Mythology Group. It's an amazing mix of warm, passionate, and inspiring people.

And how wonderful that Roomful of Sky is helping to produce the first digital versions of the Joseph Campbell lectures! Speaking as an avid reader of Campbell's work, I highly recommend listening to them. The ideas-- which are so engaging on the page-- simply come to life in the oral presentations.

When you follow your bliss, you spark a chain reaction of positive energy; and that's what's happening with Roomful of Sky!

Lisa Jubilee - May 21, 2009, 3:04 pm
The double acoustic showcase on May 16th was my first NY musicians meetup group event and I'm hooked. I went to hear great music and meet friendly, talented, artists and that is just what happened.

Phil and Katie were captivating, each in their original ways. On top of being superb musicians they are cool people too.

Hayko's Turkish Carpets was the perfect venue. It was comfortable, relaxed and we were served Turkish tea in between sets. How can you go wrong with that kind of hospitality? Looking forward to the next one!

Arianarari - May 13, 2009, 2:04 pm

culture cirlce is a fun, creative and eclectic way to spend Friday nights. I met so many wonderful people and shared with them art, stories and ideas. Love it!

Pamela Koeppel - April 13, 2009, 12:11 pm
It was a pleasure to attend the Culture Circle this Friday. This is truly a creative, and heart felt group of artists. Many of us were new and we all felt appreciated.

Noelle - April 13, 2009, 10:37 am
I was delighted by the array of creative expressions that converged at the Culture Circle, and also by how receptive and supportive everyone was. I'm glad that there's this kind of space in New York City. Thanks, Phil!

Frank Ciulla - March 7, 2009, 4:36 pm
Phil Robinson is a gracious host who politely coaxes his audience of talented individuals to perform for a room full of very receptive and creative people. One reason I moved to New York was to be around the type of peole that attend the culture circle.

Michele - March 7, 2009, 1:53 pm
Phil has a gift for drawing the most creative, soulful, and diverse people
together, and then "holding the space" and providing the forum for us all to
merge into spontaneously cohesive and supportive groups. A heart warming
and stimulating experience each time.

Shav - March 7, 2009, 1:42 am
Phil, I think what you´re doing is very important and exciting - trying to connect different people with different hobbies and passions and helping them to express themselves. Thank you very much for that!

Ben Friedman - March 1, 2009, 2:48 pm
Phil and his various groups have provided me a warm and welcoming environment to express myself creatively, intellectually, and spiritually while meeting some truly wonderful people. I've been rediscovering my inner-child in a Roomful of Sky...

Elena - February 28, 2009, 9:13 am
I enjoyed my first myth meet-up very much. The members were friendly and welcoming and the passion for mythology was palpable.

Mie - February 27, 2009, 11:01 am
My mythology IQ is close to zero but it is refreshing to be with people with passion and brain.

Tori - February 26, 2009, 10:01 pm

Being sometimes active and sometimes ancillary in the community I can tell you, there is no experience quite like a Roomful of Sky experience. You can't help but feel inspired by the by the passions of the creative souls that encompasses the ROS community.

Culture Circle was a blast!
I heard great music, singing, guitar-playing and writing with a dash of philosophical discussion thrown in. It was fun to share my own work among people that have fashioned a sometimes serious sometimes serious-fun sometimes just plain fun atmosphere that always supports the creative endeavor!

Jeff - October 13, 2008, 9:50 am
Very inspiring evening, getting together with such creative
people in such an intimate setting was a moving experience. For
me, sharing something so personal is never an easy thing to do.
Thanks to everyone for making me feel comfortable enough to
pull that off." Phil's efforts in pulling together the creative community is magical.

Theo Love - September 30, 2008, 4:06 pm
Had a great time on Friday with Dave and Rich's music. I also enjoyed the community of creative people that it brought together, and I think that Phil is doing something very special at Roomful of Sky.

Kisha Rivera - September 29, 2008, 12:34 pm
Friday night's 'Intimate Night of Music' with Dave Sasscer and Rich Casella was my first event, and it was truly a wonderful experience. Such talented, thoughtful, fun people! Looking forward to the next one.

Roomful of Sky is such a breath of fresh air! I feel like the Roomful of Sky community is a group of really passionate (and talented) people that feed off of each other's amazing energy.

You can credit it all back to Phil Robinson who made this whole wonderful community come to fruition. Phil is so open and encouraging and makes you feel like you can climb mountains. He's got a really great vibe and I feel like he sets the tone for Culture Circle.

The group truly has a spiritual nature and I feel like I am meeting wonderful, interesting, and just plain good people. I look forward to going every month. I have been looking to find a nice community like this and am glad the universe steared me to it.

Also, thanks for the nice feedback on our music everyone...Love the new site. Congrats. Keep it going!!!!!

Nadya Peeva - September 15, 2008, 1:12 pm
I can´t say enough about last Friday´s Culture Circle event…What an incredible night with so much soul, singing, stories and sharing!!

I will remember the energy in the room and everyone's loving presence and passion-filled contributions for a very long time to come. So much kindness and humanity and vision and inspiration and courage - all in one place.

No wonder so many of us were overcome with emotion and cried tears that purify and loosen and melt away imagined walls of separation...I couldn´t be more grateful for being a part of this extraordinary community! Thank you all for your presence!

Jirubcundinia - May 4, 2008, 8:56 pm
Hello, excellent site, very rich in content and correctly carefully thought out

Felicia Giolli Goodfellow - March 11, 2008, 11:34 pm
I love the poetry and spirituality of the site as a whole but I am especially intrigued by the book of pictures. The strong homoeroticism of the title piece is compelling as is the phallic imagery of the windmill in the Quixote work. I applaud your vision and bravery. Brava.

Aderne Creda - February 23, 2008, 12:04 am
Good site.

Shura - October 11, 2007, 11:36 am
You know, lately I haven't been able to stop thinking about drawing and painting again.

Seeing what you are doing with Roomful of Sky started me thinking that maybe painting isn't so futile, that there are ways of getting my stuff out there.

You are doing a lot Phil, providing a way for musicians and the artistic community a way to network and share their ideas and talents.

Seeing the impact you are making and the fun you are having help me to have a lot of hope. Well, I'll talk you soon... keep loving what you do!

Hi Phil!

And e-mail from a perfect stranger! With a weird request. I was on Amazon.com buying some books on myth, and read your review. I am a psychotherapist in the process of developing a pretty groundbreaking series of workshops for adolescents, and plan on incorporating myth work. I read your review of one of Joseph Campbell's books, and noticed your quote at the bottom - something about painting your cell walls? I can't seem to refind the book, and wanted to know if that quote was yours. If not, I would love to know the source and maybe use it in the workshops.

And you are a musician - kudos! I come from a long line of musicians, and my son is in a band and loves the blues, funk, reggae, and jazz.

Barbara

Thanks!

Lucy - July 27, 2007, 7:40 am
Culture Circle, with its exchange of ideas and generosity of attention and support for our passions as artists and culture enthusiasts of all kinds, and Phil's role as the catalyst, is visionary and inspiring...

After years of waiting, it's so exciting to finally see this beautiful website dedicated to your wonderful creative music and art.

Eric - July 17, 2007, 2:15 pm
Beautiful site. It's a tribute to the long-standing dream of Roomful of Sky, both record company and creative community, which I've been hearing about for more than 10 years.

I can see a clear line running from that cloud-painted bedroom, to your inspiring drawings (which I just saw again on the books page), through our college performing days, then the struggle to keep the dream alive in the working world, and now this - your work with Meetup and this community and web site. I love the way you (and we) are pulling it all together.

Keep up the great work!

San - July 15, 2007, 9:18 am
Roomful of Sky has been an inspiration in my life.

For several years, I had been going through the motions of living, yet somehow feeling incomplete. It was not until I joined the community fostered by RoS that I realized what was missing - somewhere along the way, I had lost touch with the ´Creative Me´.

RoS has helped me to get reacquainted with that aspect of myself, through my interactions with the RoS community of truly warm, open, supportive and creative individuals.

Individuals who are not afraid to dream and who strive towards living their dreams. RoS, you rock!

Nadya - July 14, 2007, 6:40 pm
Roomful of Sky answers the call by engaging the impulse to foster community, encourage creativity and awaken a sense of unlimited potential.

In fulfilling that function in the lives of so many, this community has become a carrier of the evolutionary thrust toward increasing collaboration, interdependence and emergent forms of creative pursuit which in turn serve to reinforce and drive the collective dynamic of blossoming in synergy with other inspired minds and hearts.

I am deeply grateful for the existence of this container of vital energy and the transformative impact it has had on all aspects of my creative and personal life.

Phil has selflessly put his vision and energy in service of this growing and thriving community – without his tireless efforts and dedication none of this would have been possible. Thank you, Phil!

Emanuela - July 10, 2007, 8:06 pm
Roomful of Sky speaks to the dawning age of collaboration; a recognition that we all have the creative spark and that sharing that spark with others lets us touch something beyond ourselves, even if only through a 2-minute song or in the time it takes to read a book.

Roomful of Sky gives artists the respect to follow their creativity and collaborate with like-minded artists who are forever open to experiencing and learning.

As the line says "paint the walls of your cage with a dream" - every day may be humdrum and somewhat limiting, but dreams are limitless potential and when one looks to the sky, the boundless energy of the universe is felt.

I have enjoyed perusing through the website because every link takes me to something inspiring which then leads to more interesting and inspiring links. Such a simple way to discover great music, inspiring words, interesting art!

Marianne - July 10, 2007, 7:20 pm
BEEE-UUUU-TEEEE-FULLLL! (Just like your lovely big heart, Philo!) The artwork is stellar. Excuse me now, while I go paint clouds all over my apartment.
